Malaysia Introduces CREAM, a System for Purchasing Solar Power from Residential Panels

On March 28, 2025, the Malaysian Energy Commission published guidelines for the Community Renewable Energy Aggregation Mechanism (CREAM). Unlike the open-access renewable energy system CRESS, launched in 2024 to regulate transactions between businesses and renewable energy generators, CREAM focuses on enabling businesses to purchase excess solar power generated by residential solar panels. These guidelines regulate transactions between households and businesses, outlining application procedures and requirements for participating companies.
