On April 4, 2025, India enacted the Boilers Act, 2025 which repeals the Boilers Act, 1923. This new legislation, marking the first major overhaul in nearly 100 years, introduces stricter safety standards and audits for entities that own, use, or manufacture boilers. It also imposes penalties of up to two years imprisonment and fines of 100,000 rupees. Additionally, the act aims to digitize registration and reporting processes for businesses. The date of enforcement the new law is yet to be determined and will be announced separately.
